TITLE: Lead Coach, Harbor Crew

SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Harbor Crew Manager, the Lead Crew Coach is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day running of the Harbor Crew, providing vocational training to individuals served by Momentum WORK, Inc., as well as ensuring that contract specifications are met and exceeded.  The Lead Coach supports the Harbor Crew Manager by assisting with payroll when needed, as well as helping to ensure that GSE ID Notes and the attendance documentation is completed and accurate. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Leads Harbor Crew Coaches by example, providing a model of the ideal Crew Coach
  • Supports decision-making about schedule changes, work assignments, and any unusual situations that might arise
  • Ensures that all coaches and crew members have been properly trained and understand their job duties
  • Reviews and makes sure all paperwork is accurate and correct, including daily attendance sheets, time sheets, and ID notes
  • Makes sure Worker’s Comp paperwork and Special Incident Reports are accurate and submitted immediately following any injury or incident
  • Provides initial orientation and ongoing safety training
  • Ensures that equipment and supplies are accessible and in good/safe condition
  • Acts as a liaison with all community partners, including Harbor Maintenance, Harbor Patrol, Waterfront Department, and harbor community members
  • Attends in-service training, staff meetings, and safety meetings
  • Completes all required documentation
  • Conducts individualized training for skill and work habit development
  • Supervises and monitors the successful completion of contract specifications
  • Complies with all Momentum WORK, Inc. and CARF policies and procedures
  • Other related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand, sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to go up and down stairs
  • Ability to walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to push or pull wheelchairs when necessary
  • Ability to speak, read, hear, and understand technical written materials
  • The employee is frequently required to climb, stoop, twist, or bend and lift up to fifty (50) pounds, using proper body mechanics to minimize injuries to self and people served
  • Full awareness of environmental stimuli
  • Ability to implement Crisis Management, Safety & Pro Act techniques (training included)

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one (1) year of experience working with persons with developmental and/or other disabilities in individual and/or group settings preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality regarding persons served and other related information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to complete tasks with numerous interruptions
  • Compassion and respect for persons with disabilities
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and understanding because people served may have intellectual, emotional, or behavioral challenges, in addition to physical limitations
  • May need to be available during any disasters, per disaster plan
  • Must have reliable phone  
  • Valid CA Driver’s License: must have an acceptable driving record as determined by criteria established by the Agency’s insurance carrier and by Agency policy
  • Valid certification in CPR/First Aid (Training included)
